Greg French - Musician, Entertainer and Guitar Tech!
With 25+ years in the Australian music scene Greg has played a lot of venues! For a number of years now he has also been using his vocal and instrumental talents performing with his friends in duos, as well as a solo performer. He has had the good fortune to know and have played with some of the local ‘legends’ like John Paul Young, Normie Rowe and Doc Span and the talented people in their backing bands. Add a few solo forays into South East Asia when a working holiday was called for and it's easy to see he has a lot of versatility and experience!
With a repertoire of hundreds of songs covering Rock, Blues, Pop, and Country he can entertain an audience with songs that range from laid back Ballads to classic hard Rock and Roll (and everything in between!). The polished performers that he works with add their own individual talents when they are combined with Greg in duo or band settings. Guitar Mods and Setups
If you are a guitarist and would like to discuss your electric guitar or electric bass setup needs, Greg is the man to talk to! With the hundreds of guitars, amps and effects he has owned/played over the years he knows quite a bit about tone and how to get it. He can assist you in turning a good guitar into a great guitar (or a not so good one into an OK guitar as the case may be!)
His love affair with the Fender Stratocaster started a lot of years ago after seeing Richie Blackmore in Deep Purple playing one. They can be hard to tame, but once you understand them they sing (at least in the hands of Blackmore, Beck, Hendrix, Clapton, Gallagher, Gilmour, Knopfler, Guy, Mayer, Vaughan, Marvin and friends they do!). He has numerous Strat style guitars (including a few of his own custom built guitars) incorporating some of the modifications he recommends and they sound surprisingly different to each other. But if you really want that SG or Les Paul (or any humbucker equiped guitar) to howl, there are a few tricks he has done to his that could interest you! Some mods are obvious, and some are very discrete - it's up to you.
